Calling all coffee lovers! Dive into the world of coffee with this new style of class that’s an equal mix of just-for-fun science class and delightful breakfast at a coffee shop. Perfect for both coffee aficionados and those eager to explore the nuances of this beloved beverage, this class offers a journey through the sensory delights of coffee tasting and the fascinating science behind its flavors.
With Thomas (a coffee nerd & expert), you'll embark on a guided exploration of local coffees from Quarrelsome Coffee and unique coffees from coffee roasters across the nation. From aromatic floral notes to bold chocolate undertones, you'll learn how to identify and appreciate the distinctive characteristics that make each cup truly special.
You’ll get to taste six different coffees in a cupping lineup with a (very fun) tasting worksheet to help you identify unique aspects of the coffees you taste. Along the way, you’ll delve into the origins of coffee, from its humble beginnings as a berry to the intricate process of cultivation, harvesting, roasting, and brewing. You’ll learn about the history and life cycle of coffee, how to decipher the notes you see on coffee bags, and how to look for identify distinct flavors in coffee and in all foods/beverages. Thomas will also take you to science class to help you understand how our brains and taste buds identify flavors with a tasting board and flavor wheel to put flavor theory into practice.
On top of that, we’ll provide freshly baked homemade pastries for you to snack on while getting caffeinated!
