Teen Cooking Basics

Instructor: Julie Birnstein

Join us for an exciting journey into the heart of the kitchen with our Teen Cooking Basics class. Designed to equip young culinary enthusiasts with essential skills, this workshop covers everything from proper kitchen setup to mastering the art of knife skills. It’s basically the first day of culinary school brought to Fennel!

Led by our experienced chef Julie, you'll start by learning the importance of station setup, including safety protocols for handling hot surfaces, sharp objects, and navigating behind-the-scenes movement. Next, dive into knife skills as you hone your precision in slicing, dicing, mincing, and more, before practicing working with whole chickens and classic vegetable preparations..

After covering basics, we’ll elevate our knife cuts in a variety of recipes to create a delicious dinner for the evening including Cast-Iron Grilled Chicken, Ratatouille, Baked Potato Soup, and Veggie Crostini with Garlic Confit.

By the end of the class, you'll walk away with a newfound confidence in the kitchen, ready to tackle any culinary challenge that comes your way.

This class is for students who are 14-18 years old. For liability reasons, we cannot accommodate students younger than 14 years old in this class. Thank you for understanding!
