Instructor: Jackie Price
Story time! Fennel owner, Jackie Price, comes from a long line of Swedish cooks. Jackie’s great-grandmother Ulla taught cooking classes in Sweden in the early 1900’s and passed that love for teaching cooking down through generations. That legacy of Swedish cooking has now arrived at Fennel, and we’re so excited to bring you a class all about Jackie’s favorite childhood memory with her grandmother Britta: Fika. Fika is a Swedish tradition where you take time out of your day to pause with a hot cup of coffee and a snack (usually a pastry). Fika is not just about drinking a cup of coffee to re-caffeinate halfway through the day, it’s about giving yourself a moment to take a break and socialize.
This class is not only a time to pause and drink coffee with friends after the holiday whirlwind, it’s also a hands-on opportunity to learn how to make delicious Swedish pastries, including yeast breads and cookies! On the menu:
Lussebullar (Saffron Buns)
Kannelbullar (Cinnamon Buns)
Kardemummabullar (Cardamom Buns)
Linzer Kekse (Almond & Jam Sandwich Cookies)
Plenty of coffee, provided by Fennel!
